Another NEWP Toned Bust Half!

AnkurJAnkurJ Posts: 11,375 ✭✭✭✭
Currently graded by NGC as AU53. Hoping to cross it as an AU50 to PCGS. My current 1832 in my registry is untoned.
Thoughts on the coin and the pics?
Some scratches on the slab.

Not many people like the dark toners but I love them when they have those neon colors in them. This piece looks great overall.

    AJ,

That is a lot of wear for an AU 50. My guess is 40/45.

    Good luck

Nice coin....I think it should AU50 as I think there is a bit of strike weakness as opposed to a lot of wear that would drop it below AU but you just never know with PCGS image

32 is a year known for some excellent strikes.
If putting together a year set as opposed to a variety set I would look
for a coin exhibiting a better strike, especially a 32 which is almost a bullion piece in the series
with close to 5 million 1832 CBH's struck. I like to see a full scroll and a better strike at the bustline
    for a year set piece.
Now if you are hunting by variety......whole different story.

Even if it comes back XF its ok with me. I bought it primarily for the toning. It will look nice with the rest of my set.

Very nice coin. I bet will will come back as a 50, soft strike and all. Well done!

looks like a 45++++ in my book and would sticker it as well in a 50 holder.

    Like it very much!

Agree with TahoeDale-- nice toning, too much wear for a 50. most likely 45, 40 on a bad day.

It's all about the toning here- a decent strike, but could be crisper. I'd keep it - I like that look a lot!

I like it as an EF45, but then again I collect Ef45 busties and am always looking for the ones that just missed AU

Here are a couple of PCGS EF's The 28 is an EF40 and the 30 an EF45

I would be very surprised if PCGS put it in an AU problem free holder. I do like the coin, just not an AU to me. But I am also someone who will pay more for a
really nice EF than an ugly AU

I'm sort of with fishteeth on this one. The EFs that have a bit of toned luster are really strikingly attractive coins.

I like her too Ankur and I hope my earlier comments didn't read otherwise.
I too have an 1832 in an NGC 53 holder with a similar look.
Mine is an O-105a late die state, known for no dentils and the outer design pulling toward the rim.
Here she is as a comp.
