What is the best way to sell this set...

I am looking to sell off an unopenned set of the 2006 W American Eagle 3 coin set. These are still sealed in the US Mint boxes.
Should I list them on Ebay, here in the BST or go to a local shop?
Looking for advice from the pros.

Would put a picture in, but I can not figure out how.

If this is not the right place to ask this just let me know.

  • Anywhere you go you will be best served if you figure out how to post a picture. Once you master that I'd say use the BST here. It's free.

Good Photos always help in selling anything. Fair and reasonable pricing will also help. Try the BST first to see if anyone bites.

A good photo of an unopened box isn't terribly important.

First thing to do is decide what you want for them. Subtract about 13% of ebay sales price is a good estimate. Then I would put them on the BST at that price and see if anyone is interested. Or you could send inquiries to modern dealers to see if there is any interest. I occasionally have buyers looking for this set but haven't had any inquiries lately.

  • Well pink. I didn't screw up the picture, but I can not figure out how to get it uploaded. I have it on a site, but can not get the pic to link in the post itself. You know, contrary to how it sounds, I am not lacking on intelligence, just patience.

  • Just a little too large. This is the code you should paste into the url for the image box:

[IMG] http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/9104/1012990.jpg at the end of [/IMG. I had to leave it off here or it would have posted the huge photo again.

  • This is why I love the forum. You all are really helpful and I appreciate it. I have read on here for many years and have always been a little intimidated to post because of all of the knowledge on here. Kudos to you all for being gentle on me and helping.

Hard to tell from the pic if it's the gold or silver set. image

The price of gold is set by faith, or lack of, in the currency it is priced in.

  • Keep tryin' JJ you'll get it, but be sure to size the photos down a bit to fit the screen better like 800 x whatever it suggests.

Technology isn't always that intuitive, don't take it personally. Now that it's up....I've gotta say...that's one damn fine looking box!

  • That it is. Notice the toning on the tape.

If that is the gold set, you might want to consider sending it unopened to PCGS and getting the coins certified. The Regular Gold Proof is a high premium coin in PCGS PR-70, in addition to the Reverse Proof being high premium in PCGS PR-70. First Strike designation doesn't hurt either for the Regular Proof.
