1956, a shiny new quarter would buy a gallon of leaded gas. today that same quarter would buy a gallon of unleaded gas, a small bag of chips, and a can of soda.

true, but the chip bag will be half empty before you open it (contents settling, they say) and sodas no longer contain real cane sugar

still think you are getting a deal?

If that quarter was invested and earned 6% interest that was compounded annually, it would be worth $5.81. You could purchase about two gallons of gas with that.

one of our members has stated he remembers his parents buying gasoline for 25 cents/gallon in 1964. Until recently, the value of a 1964 quarter tracked very well with the value of that gallon of gas. Now the question is, is silver too high or gas too low?

I was buying gas in 1976 for $.329/gallon...makes me feel really old. Had a Plymouth Grand Fury with a 32 gallon gas tank and tuck and roll leather seats that you could stretch out in...memories!!!!

not sure about the mexican coke, but the mexican pepsi that is sold up here is a little disturbing, that is after the bottle is empty ! these bottles must have been recycled from ditches, dumps and whatnot, once the bottle is empty, it is obvious that it wasnt cleaned prior to being re-filled ! anyone that doubts me, go buy one and empty it out, the last one i bought had a water stain (green) that was "overlooked" when re-filled.

Huh? That must be some high compression engine!

We use VP fuel for our built superbikes. Stuff's outrageously expensive.
