My "Delivery Confirmation" Journey with Sammy White

So I win this 1959 PSA 9 Sammy White on Ebay on December 9th. I get a delivery confirmation number stating the USPS has been notified to expect the package. Alas, they do get it on December 11th and my card is on it's way from Massachusetts to Saginaw, Michigan. Good progress is being made as it clears Boston on December 11th and then on to Allen Park, MI on the 13th. A couple days pass and I'm wondering where my package is. Low and behold the USPS decides to send it south to Toledo where it arrives on the 15th. Why, I am wondering are they sending it south when I am 100 miles to the north? Oops, about a couple hours later they realize that northern Michigan is north not south and a "missent" message is posted. So the next day it is "processed" through Toledo but to where? For three days it is lost in the Mail parallel universe. About now I think I hear my PSA 9 Sammy singing the old Paul Simon song "America"...... you remember the lyrics "It took me four days to hitch-hike to Saginaw" and alas he shows up in Romulus, Michigan, about an hours drive away but three days via the USPS route. My confidence in the USPS is on the rise as I realize we are now heading the right direction, it won't be long before Sammy in all his mint state 9 is mine! Low and behold he is here in my mailbox today. The package is all beat up and I am wondering if Sammy and his PSA holder is still mint. YES!!! Sammy had a nice 11 year MLB career (.262, 66 HR, 421 RBI) but his 10 day trip from MA to MI may have been just as exciting.

reminds of the time i was expecting a package from a member here, who lives about 400 miles to the north of me in California.

they routed my package through central Wisconsin to get it to my destination.

we both had a good laugh. yeah. sure we did. image

The really ironic part of this is that from the '60s through the '80s, Sammy White actually owned a bowling alley in Allston, MA!

    I'm near L.A. as well.

Just curious, any place out here that you can buy some older (safe) packs?

been a long time since i bothered to look.....i'd give you the standard forum reply.

older unopened product begins and ends with BBCE, and few exceptions between.
