Has this forum had a significant effect on the promotion...

of numismatic and quasi-numismatic items that may have otherwise slipped under the radar?
Consider the "speared bison", reverse of 07 2008 SAEs, Carr products, first spouses (initially, anyway), and the like.

Yes, and I think there has been a resurgance of the First Spouse series due to Eric's book and talk of their low final mintages in the "mint monster thread," and don't forget the 4 coin liberty subset of the FS series, too.

I think they already had legs before they hit the forum.
Expanding on the MPLs, there was a period that you could not open the registry forum without 5-10 threads on the front page dealing with MPLs.
For some U. S. mint issues, readers and posters on this forum might well represent 10%+ of the active buying power. For some of the tokens or fantasy pieces, the forum might be 50% or more of the market. That's enough muscle to move prices. The most obvious example is the latest DCarr product. Without this forum it would likely have never have taken off. As others have pointed out, Carr has made enough money to buy a decent house from the profits off his latest creation.

I agree. People on these boards like to kick around Longacre, but I am delighted to say I have never started a thread about MPLs (other than to ask about the status of what was clearly a well-managed promotion).
