Greetings, from Potosi, Bolivia!

As I am writing this from an internet cafe directly across the street from La Casa de Moneda, I am waiting for the Mint to reopen in about 40 minutes. I never thought that this day would ever come in my life as I have been a serious collector of Bolivia since 2002. I`d like to say that the opportunity that awaits has taken my breath away but, I am actually +/- 14,000 feet above sea level! Pictures to come!
Tonight, we leave for the Capital, La Paz.

<< <i>Look what you've done Gary, all of the ads are in Spanish now!
Not only that, but they want us to send money to Bolivia! I'm getting them too.
As coin collectors, want to get money FROM Bolivia (more specifically, Potosi), not send money TO Bolivia.

<< <i>Sounds like fun and I look forward to seeing some pictures. >>

PS. Thanks for all the well wishes!

<< <i>I'm jealous! I never get to go anywhere...
Just for a teaser, I met with the person who runs the Mint, Sra. Gloria Beltran Lopez. My wife (who did the translating) and I sat with the Sra. for over thirty minutes after the tour was completed. I made a proposal to the Mint via Sra. Beltran Lopez and it looks like my fifteen minutes of fame will be happening next year. Anyone care to guess what it might involve?!?

I'm going to guess that you'll be exhibiting some coins there. If I'm right, the next question is whether or not they'll let you take the coins back.

Proposal? maybe you offered a design for a new coin, but your NEW design will reflect an original older design?
Or you have offered to buy their complete supply of coins for next year?

Patrimony laws (written or unwritten, real or imagined) are nothing to fool around with. Be careful....
In the meantime, lets see those photos!
This is Bolivia we're talking about. They nationalize companies and industries in their sleep. If they can rationalize that, they can certainly rationalize taking their coins back.

Andy, I am agreeing with you.
And Customs can take anything, law or not. You want to spend months/years and mucho dinero in lawyers fees getting it all back? Only to find out that some of them were "lost"?
More to come!!!
