New eBay IDs for holiday purchases?

Just had a seller make a purchase using an ID that was made today asking for delivery confirmation, saying it will be a Christmas gift...sounds legit, normal?

Happened to me (almost) last night. Guy even sniped.

I thought someone was messing with my auctions.

    Good for you.
  • As long as you ship to the paypal address, you should be ok..

Why would you sell anything on eBay without using delivery confirmation?

I use DC for everything, so I don't know why the buyer would request this.

Says it is a Christmas gift. She lives in CA and her paypal has a different name and lives in NC.

I printed a label for the paypal address and have DC with insurance...hopefully everything will be OK.

I guess that's about all a seller can do...

Good question. A seller I've purchased from 10+ times has never used delivery confirmation. A few of the shipments were $100+, and he charges $5 first item and $1 each additional.

I guess they make more money off it, postage - DC = Higher profit margin.

I use DC on everything I send.

I always use DC, it is cheap insurance.

Possible she set up a new account just to send the item straight to the "giftee" and wants to make sure it arrives on time. She could just be a noob who's worried about the gift arriving in time.

Of course, that story would also be a great ruse.
