Avatar help needed..

Hi all,
I am trying to upload a pic I want to use for my avatar and keep having trouble. I have tried to paste it from photobucket with no success and have clicked on the brouse button and tried uploading from my pictures on my computer. I have it down to 9.87 kb which should not be a problem, but I keep getting an error message that the format is not recognized. Do I have to use the image thing in brackets or am I just missing something simple?

Below is the pic I am trying to use. no problem getting it here. It just won't upload on my profile.

Think it has to be a jpg or gif file. Is it?

This should work, it is way smaller than it needs to be. Are you on a MAC? There is a trick to getting them uploaded from there, but I am not on a mac.

Thanks for the imput. I checked and it is a jpg or jpeg file. I tried uploading from my computer (2 different ones, one with vista and one with xp) as well as from a flash drive. no go. I sized the pic w/ the editing software on the computer. I thought it was small but 10kb ain't much!

IIRC, some Mac browsers don't work with the upload program. Safari does.

It may be simpler to download the photo from photobucket to your computer and do the avatar upload from there.

I think it might be something with the file name. Cange it to toyz4geoIcon.jpg on your computer and try uploading to PCGS then upload to your profile.

That slash mark might be the problem.

I just looked. Your pic is too big. The one I posted is resized. It should work.

Thanks for everyones help/input. Downloaded avitar sizer and it worked. I might get the hang of this place after all!
