It's sposed to be a semblence of a Confederate coin but the only denominations minted were 50c and 1c, so it's not authentic or even a copy of a real one.

I think coins like that one were made in the late 1950s/early 1960s as Civil War centennial souvenirs.

It's more a fantasy than a fake. It's can't be a fake of something that never existed.
