postal insurance on the lost pr70 1964 washington

Well, the postal insurance check arrived in Friday's mail. I guess this means that the US Govt now recognizes that the 1964 pcgs pr70 that I mailed to PCGS for their "review" is now offically lost. cheers, alan mendelson

Hi, the postal service sent me $353.50 and the coin was insured for $350. I guess the 3.50 extra was to reimburse my priority mail postage?

the coin cost me $366.99 (with shipping from the seller), so there was a small loss. HOWEVER, since the coin was lost, I didnt have to pay the PCGS fees which means I actually saved money. (I did expect PCGS to downgrade the coin and pay me off with their "guarantee service."

by the way, the slab number was 7728012 -- so if this coin is ever offered to you, use fireproof gloves because it's HOT.

    cheers, alan mendelson

Glad to hear it worked out. And so is PCGS, I presume. image The post office does reimburse you for postage on lost insured packages, but not the original cost of insurance.

FYI for the future, you can insure $399.99 for the same price as $350.00.
