Topps Vault Items for the serious collector!

Iron Man

Texas Express

I have to say that some ebayers with big pockets are starting to fill their collections with one of a kind items....anyone feel differently that
these are great long term investments?

Edited to add: I mean Topps Vault items in general.

ive been watching them and thought the Rip might sell for more, the older Vault stuff is amazing, the newer stuff they do doesn't interest me much.

It never ceases to amaze me what Topps Vault continues to offer. Some of the negatives in the current auctions are amazing, let alone the ones that recently ended. I don't know about long term investment but I have to think that a one-of-a-kind negative actually used to produce some of the most iconic cards of our time would be worth quite a bit to certain collectors.
  • I figure they are going to start running dry on the older material. Transparencies seem to have bigger following than in 2007. Older proofs seem to always do well. I think the only thing I missed out on that I really wanted was the 1991 Topps Desert Shield box that was listed back in 2006/2007. Otherwise, any HOF player I typically put a bid on and am priced out by the last day.
  • I wonder, if you have the negative, does that give you the rights to the photo? If anyone knows and the answer is yes, let's keep it a secret on this board image

Owning the negative (or transparency) does not give you rights to reproduce it. Regardless of who has possession of the image, the rights are retained by the creator (photographer) or if the creator was an employee, his employer.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

or if Topps sold those rights to other companies.... which they did.

I won the very first topps vault auction, I proceeded to give them a negative 2 minutes later. They used to have like 200 positives and 50 negatives, but
ebay allowed them to purge their feedback after they revised their shipping policy...it used to be 30 days AFTER payment was made.

    Why the edit?

And is my being trashed going to be your best defence ever for being a lying scamming piece of trash?

Why did you leave them a negative 2 minutes after you won the auction? Just curious.

I asked them a question about the negatives if you were able to print a photo from it and they said you could for your own personal use. I think it would be awesome to have a giant photo that's linked to a great card.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't want that Ripken negative (too rich for my blood). It would have gone great with this piece I got from Topps Vault about two years ago...

Not sure what etopps has to do with THAT transaction. Leaving a neg for any reason other than the actual transaction sounds like a typical ebay person playing the feedback game...do not feed the idiocy ebay has become.

mt, i don't like the way you said, whats your ebay id so i can buy a $1 item that you would clear 0.50 on, and leave you a neg... and ding all your stars.
  • I have to agree with mt, there is no justifiable reason to buy something from Topps to leave them a negative. Nor is that within ebay rules.

I have a retarded question about the Nolan Ryan "negative" in the original post. The auction is for a "negative" yet the picture shown isn't a negative at all, its a positve. What am I missing here?
