How much would you expect to pay for a 1922 "no d" cent?

Strong reverse.

I know what the price guides say, but I don't know how accurate the guides are on this. If you were to buy one in VG-F condition in PCGS plastic, what would you expect to pay? Higher, lower, right on? It's not my series so I have no idea, any help is appreciated.

Well, the strong reverse (Die Pair 2) is the best one and IMO the only one worth buying. It is graded by the reverse, but which coin would you rather own:

a coin with a Good and mushy obverse and an EF reverse,

or a coin with a Fine more clear obverse and an EF reverse?

Assume both are graded equally by your favorite grading service. If I were buying one of these, I would look until I found one that had a decent obverse along with the strong reverse. JMHO.

Bought a PCGS VF20 SR in Baltimore (posted earlier) for $1100 - bid was $1050, I believe.

About $700-$900 in the VG-F grade range, maybe a bit more if it has really good eye appeal.

I have a strong VF30 I bought a few years ago for $2k. While I enjoy it I still find myself drawn to AU's. That's on my shopping list. They seem to hold their value well. The '22-D is a very cool coin whatever the grade.
