if you could open one Baseball wax (not rack, grocery, vending, nor cello) pack from the 1980's, which would it be, and why?

Baseball: '83 Topps, because of Gwynn, Boggs, and Sandberg rookies. Plus, it was the first set I ever put together.

Football: '84 Topps, because of Elway, Marino, and Dickerson rookies.

Don't collect the other two, so I can't give an opinion.
Yeah, I uploaded that KC icon in 2001

Baseball - 1984 Donruss - First year I started collecting, mostly Topps though. I have opened some Donruss over the years, but have never pulled a Mattingly.

Football - 1986 Topps - I started collecting football with the 85's (my first football love), but the thought of finding a perfect Rice rookie in a pack makes my insides tickle.

Hockey - 1985 Topps/OPC - I've never opened either, but have owned a few Lemieux RC's. It would be fun to find one in a pack.

Another vote for 1980 Topps baseball..

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
  • I'd go with 1981 Topps Baseball. It's always been my favorite, of the better sets. The 1987 Topps is the best looking to me, always liked the wood bordered sets (1952 Topps, 1955 Bowman, 1962 Topps). But lets face it 1987 isn't worth anything.

I've never really collected any other sport.

Baseball - 1982 I'd like to pull a Ripken RC.

Football - 1984 Marino, Elway, etc.

Hockey - Whatever the year was with Vanbiesbrouck and Roy.

    The 80's - I remember them well....

Baseball - '83 Topps, nice rookie class, sharp photos, classic design

Football - '81 Topps - I'm not a big fan of the design, Montana rookie is the lure.
