Auction Hunters vs. Storage Wars

I know that there's another similar show that I'm forgetting but I've never seen it so can't comment on it. I was curious if anyone else has seen either show and what they think. I stumbled on Auction Hunters after seeing part of a commercial and thought it was pretty good. I kind of wish that they showed the bad buys every so often to give us a better idea of what they really do but at least on Auction Hunters, they preface the beginning by saying it's about the good stuff. I watched Storage Wars last night for a bit and it just happened to be when they found a bunch of sports cards and memorabilia. They took it to some shop to be appraised and I always get a kick out of that because I don't believe anything had a COA and nothing was graded so there was a potential wide span of prices. I liked AH better because there's just two guys and SW has four different people so the show kind of skips around from one person to the other.

There is another show called American Pickers where they go from town to town looking for one person's junk, another's treasure....and of course we've all seen Chumley in Vegas in the Pawn Shop.....probably the only show I can say I've enjoyed is the Vegas one and that is more so because I enjoy Vegas....they are all the same.
  • I enjoy Storage Wars more mainly because it allows you to see the contents of other storage units. With Auction Hunters you only see what they win.

I'm watching Auction Hunters right now, and their $400 furniture unit buy had some sports cards in the back. Previews of what's coming up show a '52 Bowman Mays and Matt of Beverly Hills Baseball Cards telling them it's worth more than all the other cards put together.

I like storage wars better than AH, mostly because storage wars has some real idiots as recurring characters and my wife and I like to make fun of them. Its an exciting job (I guess), but at the end of the day you've got a bunch of dudes (and 1 hot wife) bidding on a bunch of closed taped-up boxes. I'm sorry, but if you're on TV showing America that you're OK paying $800 for a room full of taped up cardboxes boxes, you are pretty much a loser. Yeah, I realize sometimes you can actually see the stuff, but not always. On one show, the guy was saying that he was planning on "bidding very agressively" for a unit because he was impressed that the owner had wrapped the boxes in cellophane wrap and that it likely meant there was valuable stuff in there....LOL, what a bunch of loons....

Nice call on Pawn Stars and American Pickers. Both of these shows are MUCH better than either Storage Wars or Auction Hunters IMO. Of the 4, I think Pawn Stars will be around for a while b/c the family members all have such unique personalities.
