Sox had lots of money coming off the books this year and even more next year. I think they are still net negative compared to 2010

Now all we have to do is get Cliff Lee and get rid of dice-k and we will be golden.
  • they could complain about Mike Greenwell's pornstache, Todd Benzinger's perm or if they're really itching to complain, they could talk about how Florida Evans, I mean Big Papi doesn't hit dingers any more after he stopped using

plus, we need Scott Downs, a catcher, and a right-handed setup guy...all without losing any of the draft picks coming in the first round of 2011 image

It's the Yankees fault. In order to stay competitive, the Sox have to play this game. I'm just happy that they can - the other AL East teams cannot, and that's a shame.

And THIS is why baseball needs a salary cap AND a salary MINIMUM. If they're going to have revenue sharing the teams reaping the benefit should be forced to spend that money to keep themselves competitive.

I agree. I like the way the NFL is handling things.

in other posts over the years I have mentioned how the Red Sox fans who came to Cleveland were always the worst...this is just going to add more gasoline to their fire.....most arrogant fans I've ever met...and yes they were even worse than Yankee fans....

Almost every fan of their favorite team is arrogant.

    By far.

Here's an excerpt from a post on the topic on a certain Rays blog.

"OK, Crawford was leaving. We could deal with that. The Angels, Tigers or Rangers? That would have been nice. The Yankees? Could have been fun seeing Crawford reach his full potential with such a historic and classy organization.

But the Red Sox? The nightmare scenario has come true. Seven years. In a Red Sox uniform."

Well I must say I am very pleased and SHOCKED thay we were able to grab Crawford, it certainly makes the Red Sox the team to beat in the AL East in my opinion but its winter so I will save that banter for another day.

True about Sox Fans not having a leg to stand on when it comes to Yankee spending anymore, as a matter of fact that is old hat now and anyone that mentions it nowadays is stuck in a time warp because it has been like that for awhile now.

Bottom line its great for Red Sox Fans, not great news for Yankee or Ray's Fans.

I just hope we can stick it in the Yankees rear end and overpay for Cliff Lee for good measure now.

The only part of that blog that rings true is that Crawford going to the Sox IS a nightmare scenario for the Rays is because they are a 3rd place team now...

Red Sox fans are no more arrogant than any other fans, its a small percentage that act up regardless of which team

    Paul,

You know how the Yankee's fans are, gotta grumble about something, same old, same old. They're still pissed about choking.

Looks like Theo has really pumped up the lineup for 2011, no doubt we'll be in the hunt. I'm looking forward to April...heck, I may even trip down to Ft Myers for a Grapefruit adventure.

Nice to see you posting again...don't be such a stranger. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

    Regards,
    Al

    Bob,

Sounds good to me, easy to get to Ft. Myers. Paul jump in and let's see if we can get a group together to enjoy the palm trees, beer and baseball next March. By the time March gets here Paul, I suspect you'll be ready to get away from that cold salt air. image Oh gee, did I forget shoveling that white stuff in your driveway?? image Dunno if Southwest goes out of Manchester to Ft. Myers, but I think they do, better than the Logan hassle for sure.

Bob...PM and LMK how that Vegas thing worked out. Heading to the gulf coast (Beau Rivage) for a few days next week, hopefully to make a withdrawal.

This sounds like sour grapes about Red Sox fans.
