Thread of the Year Award Poll

Thispoll is the first ever CU Forum Thread of the Year Award, which I suggest we name after the first awardie, in tradition of the Mike Stone Award. (These Mikes are taking all the awards.)

The top three pollers (14) Navarro, Gary Carter (10) and Wrestling Thread with 1000+ postings (4), from the previous related topic have been carried into this thread.

Navarro: 14
Gary Carter Thread: 10
Wrestling Thread: 4
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

As much as I enjoyed all three threads, in my opinion I feel the wrestling card thread defined this year on the CU.

This should get a thread of the decade award image

Edit add: I voted for The Bead Master image

I nominate the "Is Hideo Nomo the Felix Potvin of baseball?" thread.

  • I think the question begs to ask, who is the Felix Potvin of autographed wrestling rookie cards that Gary Carter might collect? He collect cards you know.

Edit to add; The Iron Sheik. They look like twins.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

I have no idea who Gary Carter is.

I voted for Gary Carter's thread because I think Mike won last year. Nothing wrong with multiple-time winners. I just found the Carter thread to be unique. Both thread's kick butt and are awe-inspiring and collection-inspiring!

Nothing against Mike, but what about the NNOF thread? Have they won in the past? To me, that should be the thread of the year considering they were able to have their findings published in Beckett and were able to get Beckett to distinguish on their flips the different error variations.

I still don't know who Gary Carter is...if I begin a Mike Bossy thread and add to it everyday will it be thread of the year for 2011?

If I'm not mistaken, the NNOF thread was (deservingly) mentioned last year, but as far as "Could I start a Mike Bossy thread?" Yes you could, but then again every local store makes a version of Coke too. They're all Cola but Coca-Cola was first and will always command respect for originality that isn't compromised by imitators. The Gary Carter thread is fantastic because we haven't seen a thread by a player collector like it before. I also have an autograph thread but it will never be as good as Navarro's (for various reasons LOL). Both Carter and Navarro's threads are trend setters.

And I would hope that you're being what I like to call "internet cynical" about not knowing who Gary Carter is. I would find that very difficult to believe.

I looked him up on wikipedia and added the link to Gary Carter's page.
  • I'm too new, so I won't vote this year. I have seen both the navarro and carter threads and I really like them.

    Wrestling? Pass.....

  • I will close the poll around 10pm tonight.

  • Not that I don't appreciate the entertainment value of the wrestling thread.

But I think your yearbook thread should have been added to the list before that one Mark.

Write-in: I vote for the thread that brought the guy who left me hanging in a $5,000 deal onto the boards so I could tell him about himself.
  • Pole will close shortly. Get your vote in.
