Is it Spanish "Real" or "Reale"?

If you have 1 or 1/2 , you have a "real" right? Pronounced "ree-al."

I've seen a lot of people spell it "reale." If it was "reale" you would have a "ree-al-ey," which I don't think is correct?

Plural would be "reales" as is standard procedure... but single is...?

Real de a 1/2/4/8, and medio real, are the spellings in Calico. My Venezuelan client pronounces them "un re-al" and "ocho re-al-es" when he's speaking Spanish so I assume that's correct.

I've wondered the same thing and do not know the answer.

Seems like it should be real. Perhaps reale came about from English speakers who thought just the letter s (as opposed to the es) was needed to make the plural form.

"Medio Real" is 1/2R and "Un Real" is 1R. I'll post a picture in a few minutes...
