Have you ever heard of the Beef 'O' Brady bowl?

My new favorite funny name obscure bowl game.



The Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl St. Petersburg (formerly the St. Petersburg Bowl) is a NCAA Division I FBS college football bowl game played annually at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. It was first played following the 2008 college football season, when it was known as the magicJack St. Petersburg Bowl after corporate sponsor magicJack. When Beef O'Brady's became the sponsor in 2009, the official name was changed to the St. Petersburg Bowl Presented by Beef 'O' Brady's. The bowl game features teams from the Big East Conference and Conference USA, unless one of the conferences does not have enough teams bowl eligible, in which case the Sun Belt Conference is eligible to send a team.

    It's a restaurant chain... I think they may only be in the south though so it's understandable someone from Michigan hasn't heard of them before. There's one on the campus of my school as well as all over the state, so it's not obscure to people down here at all.

    The Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl....that flows right off the tongue.

    Another interesting one I just hear of:

    "New Era Pinstripe Bowl" to be played on Dec. 30.

    Most likely it had a different name in the past or this might be a brand new one.

    It's a brand new bowl played at Yankee stadium....hence the New Era (baseball hats), and Pinstripe (Yankees). You suck at this game.

    I actually went to the Beef O'Brady's Bowl last year. It wasn't difficult to convince me to visit the St Pete area in December...

    I was at the inaugural "MagicJack Bowl" in 2008. USF beat Memphis by 30 or something ridiculous. It's definitely weird to watch football in the Trop. Although, the same can be said about watching baseball in there too haha.

    Hey "Michigan"...if you are from Michigan you can find a Beef O'Brady's on the corner of 23 Mile/Van Dyke in Utica/Shelby Township area.

    Funniest/dumbest bowl name ever still has to be: the Poulan Weedeater Bowl
    South of Heaven...North of Canada

    When the Indians trained in Florida their announcers were always talking about Beef O Brady's and they often had radio call in shows from there......

    The sponsorship names make the bowls sound even more meaningless than they already are.....just another example of money trumping tradition
