<< <i>I don't know where I was getting LaJoie's hit total, but I was apparently wrong and Jeter passed him tonight (along with tying Eddie Murray). Alas, premature again.

No, you got it right the first time. DJ passed Nap Lajoie last week. I've been on vacation (still am for another 10 days)......Thanks for picking up the slack Jimmy!!
Jeter homered on the first pitch of tonights game Vs. Chicago. With that he passes Eddie Murray (3255 hits) and now owns sole possesion of 12th place on the ATHL.
27 more hits and he will tie The Say Hey Kid.......Willie Mays with 3283 lifetime hits. I'd say Captain Clutch has reached rarefied air.
With 2 hits in last nights loss, Jeter moved past Willie Mays for 11th on the ATHL. This will probably be the last player he passes this season as he is now 30 hits behind Eddie Collins with less than 20 games to go.
Just to recap, DJ passed Winfield, Gywnn, Yount, Waner, Brett, Ripken, Lajoie, Murray, and Mays this season.
Barring anything unforeseen next season, he should pass Eddie Collins, Molitor, Yastrzemski, Honus Wagner, and Cap Anson which would put him 6th on the big list......... Stay tuned.

So I guess you count the five years that Cap Anson spent in the National Association. Since Major League Baseball at that time did not recognize the National Association as being a true major league, MLB does not count Anson's time in the National Association in his statistics and thus place him 25th all time.
STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

When I started doing this I used BaseballReference.comas my guide. Shortly after I realized that there are two lists, so I just kept going with the one I started with. Plus every Yankee Hater in the land would have been quick to point out that Jeter was behind Anson.
Jeter was a great player and still is better than a lot of players named here by the Yankee haters. They argue with their hearts not their heads.
As great a career that Jeter has had he is still about 1000 hits behind my favorite player.....Pete Rose. Rose should be in the Hall and would be if it weren't for a certain A$$!!!!!!!!!
With 3 hits in last night loss to Texas, Jeter passed Carl Yastrzemski for 7th place on MLB's All Time Hits List with 3420. DJ accomplished this feat in exactly 1000 less career AB's than Yaz had. For that, Red Sox Nation should tip their cap to The Captain in a show of Re2pect.
With his 3431st hit last night, Derek Jeter passed Honus Wagner for 6th place on MLBs All Time Hits List. I couldn't find a picture of Honus tipping his cap, so a shot of the newest T206 Wags to hit the hobby will have to do. It's going to be auctioned off this fall.
Didn't I see that Wagner pictured in a baseball card book way back when? It wasn't slabbed back then obviously... And is that "The Cheapskate Wagner" subtitle on the label for real? I can't believe PSA would allow something like that.

Just some bookkeeping to attend to. Major League Baseball made an official scoring change Tuesday that took away an infield single from Jeter on Aug. 8 and instead charged Cleveland first baseman Carlos Santana with an error on the play. Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer requested the review which ended up saving him two earned runs. I didn't see the play live, but looking at the replay it was an obvious error.
So, the hit that tied Wagner came on August 9th VS. Cleveland, and Jeters double on August 11th VS. Baltimore was the knock that gave The Captain sole possession of 6th place on MLBs All Time Hits List.
