Worlds most expensive British 6D?

Linky

There are a couple of rare date Vickies that are probably more, but this is the most expensive common date I have seen.

Mac's 1851 MS68 6d went for over 3k (thanks to me, the unhappy underbidder). This date is more common than his former piece.

    Thanks again, sir! image

The total on my 1851 tanner was $3,450 to the lucky bidder, although that date is considerably tougher than a '53.....so, someone got a real bargain!!!!! image

Edited to add: the previous high that I knew of on a PCGS MS68 6d was $1,800, back in about 2007 or so.

A quick check of the most recent 6d pops shows 6/16 grades of MS67 or better are the 1853 date. These must have been the clotted cream Wybrit pulled from his original birthdate roll. image

Well, the Jubilee 1893 6d that Colin Cooke had for sale was 5.25K pounds which is about 8,000 USD or so.
Don't think the grade could compete - wonder what the '93 grades?

Yes, but that was the 1893 Jubilee, a rare beast indeed.
