Stud finders and Insert Cards

I just remembered when I was a kid hanging out in my dad's pet store how excited I was to have a comic and sports card shop open a few doors down.
I'm not claiming to be the guy to find this out, but I did stumble across, while playing with my dad's stud finder and bricks of cards, that if you hold it to the cards and there is an insert in the stack the stud finder will tell you.
I told the card shop owner's son (my age, used to run around and play in the shopping center together) about the stud finder.
If you put it up against a non-foil pack, it would tell you if there is an insert inside.
That weekend his father's display case was filled with insert cards. Most unopened boxes had been opened up.
Guy couldn't renew his three year lease and was gone before I knew it.
Just thought I'd share my trip down memory lane
