Just got back from the show. Some really great stuff, but I think for the most part over priced. Better deals on ebay. But that seems to be the norm anymore at any show. I think the biggest problem I had was many dealers wouldn't even look at me. Maybe because I am a young guy they don't think I have money to spend? I am a nice guy and easy to talk with and came with money to spend. My biggest hunt was the 52 Mantle. A dealer there had 10 of them. I looked, hung around, and no response. He was too busy on the cell phone and the computer. After going to his table 3 times, I just gave up. I got no response from 90% of the tables. I felt almost like the dealers were to good to be bothered. All in all, nice show with a lot of cool items, but it seemed more like a mesuem than a place to buy.

Joe ... did you ask the guy for help and he just ignored you? Or were you just looking and said nothing. Just curious.
STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Doug, All 3 times that I stopped, he was on the phone and computer at the same time. And I stuck around for a while. But I wasn't going to waste my entire time standing at his stand all night. I hope whatever he was doing was very important!
the more things change.......i recall standing in front of a huge display waiting patiently to ask a question of a dealer who possessed a vast inventory and a swiveling neck, but the gadgetry may have been slightly different.....the year was 1991 and it was Levi Bleam at a high school gym in Willow Grove.....musta been about 400 degrees inside that night.
i did have a rather animated conversation with Al Rosen, though, when he wasn't belittling my stuff.

Sad to hear. But you dont want to do business with him anyway. He will just try to rip you off. You can get better deals elsewhere.

So I hear. It probably worked out for the best then.
I went it was my first time ever at a card show it was very nice I got every 1980 phillies player there today 12/4/ steve carlton was a very very long wait. shane victorino was a rude person there. But I had fun
Give it two more shows and it will be only an autograph show. Dealer tables are nearly half what was there when they bought Bob out and returned from exile in Reading. A very, very disappointing show. Attendance is through the roof and yet everyone is in line for autographs, getting food or outside smoking. The show floor is virtually barren of customers.

Just like Friday night. It will stink if this show goes in the tank. I made a couple deals before getting there. I enjoy meeting some fellow collectors from the message boards and talking to dealers and graders too. I also don't mind making an impulse buy or two to really get that card show experience. I bought a nice 55 bowman Richie Ashburn last night and driving home felt like Christmas to me. Such a great feeling. But the lack of attendance on the floor and the scale back of many dealers/grading companies is alarming to me to see since I liked this show so much. I hope a comeback is in the works!
I think the show coming back I think in march of 2011. It is a great thing to go to felt like a kid again. One thing I was buying a phillies photo and the guy that runs the table got something at the show autographed and psa failed it. He took it over and he said psa woman didn't like the way it looked so she was going to do a do over.
Last time I went to the philly show was April this year. I was there looking for some cards. Far as raw stuff. All I found was over priced junk. All graded stuff was over priced. It was cool though to see PSA and BBCE tables. The experience was something I won't forget. Upstairs they had a gun show. Seems like everyone that was at the center was there for the gun show and not for the sports card show LOL. I cruised the floor just to check it out. I need to go to a national though. I am sure they are way better then the Philly show...

<< <i>Went to the last show and was disappointed to find almost no hockey in a hockey market. Good luck as long as it's not hockey >>
