Anyone with a 19th century Krause handy - were there any ZAR (South African Republic) 3 Pence coins reported minted in 1898?

    No regular issues listed in Krause, just a pattern in gold only - 215 pieces struck for mining magnate Sammy Marks

    thanks spoon - i saw this on ebay and it didn't look right for the regular 3p coins of the period - wonder if it could be one of the 'specials'

    wouldn't pay the price the seller is asking but nice to identify the coin none-the-less
