Houston Show, Day 2
Day 2 was certainly better than yesterday, although many dealers were still rolling in well past noon. I searched every table for Half-Dimes, and found not a one that I needed. Traffic was ok, not great, but at least a few retail customers were cruising the floor. I did spot a dealer back in the low rent district with 5 Capped Bust Half Dimes. I asked to see them and he was thrilled just to have someone look at his coins. His good mood quickly vanished when I informed him the first coin was counterfeit. He told he had just bought it that morning from another.
Well, I couldn't leave without buying anything, so when I found a pretty cool looking toned Morgan in a 1950's Tidy Soap holder, I bought it. I'll put up a picture tomorrow when I'm home.

I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.

Walked in at 1pm - dropped some coins off for Blue62vette to image....haven't even had a chance to look at them yet, but I'm sure they're great! Will post some pics later...
wandered the floor...met Blue62vette, Charmy, EagleEye, Coinguy1, Monsterman, WTCG, Rkfish, Legend, had a nice chat with Bonnie and Stevie at Albanese...
Sold a few coins...hopefully headed back tomorrow to rid myself of the $$$ I got today burning a hole in my pocket!
Also worthy of note are the sample slabs from Michigan Masters with a Pr-69 D-CAM 2009-S Sackie featuring the "halo" edge-read prism. Pretty cool!
<< <i>modern fake, not contemporary counterfeit? >>
Modern cast counterfeit, but better than the counterfeits of a couple of years though.

<< <i>The show was slow on Thursday but picked up on Friday. Of course there were dealers who aren't happy with the show results so far but a few said it has been one of their best shows so far. Attendance is expected to pick up on Saturday.

I think Gregg can hold his own on this one.
