Submission question

I just joined up for the first time and want to send off some coins. How do you handle insuring your shipment? The issues that come to mind are
A. How do you assign what a coin is worth before it is graded?
B. How do you handle insuring coins you cannot prove what their value is?
I had a coin stolen that I had to show my ebay printout to get my claim. What if I dont have any such proof but the coin is worth say 300$?
C. Does PCGS charge you for shipping after coins ship from them? I am going to use the welcome vouchers so how do i pay them to ship them back?

Thanks

See here for submission information from PCGS.

I appreciate the not so subtle "hey noob go read the answers yourself" but some of these questions are not answered there.

    A. Give it your best guess.
    B. Your best guess will determine the amount of insurance you buy. I don't know what kind of proof you might be asked to present but the fact that PCGS grading was involved should help your case. Any docs you have will, of course, prove important (if any).
    C. The submission form guides you on the cost for shipping back to you. It is based on the total value of coins for each submission and the number of those coins. Look at the back of the submission form. You pay in advance with your submission.

    Good luck!

My biggest problem will be with a couple of world coins that were purchased in cash overseas with no receipt from a private collector. #1 Ive never seen them sold slabbed in any grade. #2 I have no idea what they are worth other than what I paid for, but if they graded PF63 or PF68 there would obviously be a big difference. In any case Id have no way pf proving what they are worth to me to the USPS if they are lost. I am very scared heading into my first submission though I am spliiting up the US stuff from the world stuff due to turnaround times.

There's no simple answer. Just give it your best shot. Figure the odds of the coins getting lost/stolen are extremely small, if that's any comfort. I've always addressed my packages to "PCGS". But I see the package returned to me always comes from "CU". I like that and I will use it for future mailings. (One time a guy on line at the PO saw my package and said "Oh...you collect coins." Hmm.)

You do not need separate packages, just separate submission forms. Why pay more for shipping and double the (small) risk with the mail?

you need to call cust service.

the vouchers, and forms using them, all have to be submitted at the same time.

I always make my best guess and also think of what amount would I be satisfied (within reason) if it got lost.
There are cheaper faster ways to send it in but registered and insured for the est value from the form works for me. Remember to keep your shipping receipt from the PO.

The return shipping is on the back of the form.
You also need to include the handling fee.
    Send in the voucher thing.
Pay with a check or CC for return postage and the handling fee.
Call customer service and review the submission before you send it since it's your first, they are helpful.
Look online to see when they get it or wait for their email.
Check back after about 2 weeks to see if the grades get posted.

AND!!! remember to give us an update when you get em back.

    Good luck image
