anti-Wiener

Something of a counterpoint to Wiener's monumental style is this simplistic depiction of Argentinian architecture.

I heard many of these are silver-plated bronze. Can you tell?

Well, it was sold as silver by a vendor I respect, but the price I paid suggests it could be plated. Offhand, I cannot tell the metal and there are no markings.

Would the variation in color suggest plating?

Well, I just put the medal under a loupe and it appears to be plated. Which is ok since I was buying the medal, not the metal. The price was reasonable.

Nothing wrong that it is plated, I just wondered. I'm not sure why as I would expect silver to be plentiful and relatively cheap in 1902 (Argentina being a wealthy country).

They are beautiful none the less and often executed by European engravers.
