Could someone please give me a vintage photo lesson?

I have several old original photos. I have 5 large photos of Wilt Chamberlain and several from the Philadelphia Phillies.

How do I know if they are Type 1, Type 2, etc?

Also, how to I know if they are a wire photo, press photo, etc? What is the difference between a wire photo and any other photo?
