    66 no FBL

I don't know my Frankies image
  • 64+

No real dings, but not a very strong strike, unless weak strikes are the norm for '59Ds...
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, added to prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill, and suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all its own, for the children and the children yet unborn, and the pity of it is, that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.
  • Wow from the pic she looks really clean. Im gonna have to say that has to be a MS66 FBL.

EDITED to add the vanilla ice eye brow may keep it at a 65. I dont thing the carbon spots would affect the grade really much upto MS66. Beyond 66 imo is when it would be taken into account.
  • Ms65 on account of the spot.

That is a very clean Franklin. How bad is the spot or spot residue behind the portrait?

After looking at a few 59D examples on Heritage, image

Looks like this is a solid strike for this date and mm, may even go 67.

I dont know if I would try a regrade. (hard to be sure from giant pics) - I think this one might oscillate back and forth between 65FBL and 66 no bell. One a liner coin, sometimes you get the grade, sometimes the designation. And of course, if you send it in raw, there is always Genuine or 65 no bell as well...

  • did you send this one off to be graded ?
  • Finally got around to send in and I must say I am a bit dissapointed. I dont have in hand yet but is coming back in the 65FBL holder. Not even a plus.

I think the lack of luster played a big part in the coin not receiving a ms66 grade. Other than that the coin looks like a solid 66

    66 fbl.....oops

The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
  • Must be smoething not visible in the pics that held it back (most likely), or else it's a mistake (less likely).

I think that it could have got a 65+ or 66 if it were not for the two spots on the obverse, however according to what I see in the pics I am suprised that it got FBL.

    Back in November you stated

ok its actually in a 65fbl pcgs holder for now. just wanted unbiased opinions. got to send in for regrade

It came back from an attempted re-grade exactly as the first grade.

Question, did you submit the Frankie in it's original holder or was it cracked out and then submitted for a grade?

I sent in holder. I paid up for the coin in the first place due to how clean it is. Now pile another $60 on top for regrade, I couldnt take an off chance of a BB
  • That bottom set of lines cinch for non-full. That top set is very close to full. I guess MS-65 would be a fair overall grade. That spot on the obverse is distracting, though.

EDIT: I really must read more than just the first post in these threads before I reply. That bottom set of lines is a little dark in the picture, though, so, maybe-in hand they look full.
