Thanks...i guess in this situation having a VCP subscription would have paid off...the subscription is kind of expensive for the casual user though.
Just out of curiosity what were the dates of those?

First off, Ive always said this is a 1947 issue, but the books and PSA etc, dont see it that way... on back it states he was "Born 28 years ago", and Robinson was born Jan 31, 1919... so the odds are that it was issued sometime in 1947 if the bio on back was current.

    There are 2 versions.
I have owned at least 10-12 of the Dugout version and one of the Leaping version, and have never paid more than $100 for any of them.

The "Dugout" card is common, the "Leaping" one is very rare. I actually was the one who reported the leaping card a few years ago to Bob Lemke to update the info in the SCD big book, and have only seen 1 other beside the one I had.

Here is one I have right now (below)... I have it listed on my site for $75, and I can tell you I paid less than 1/2 that for it on eBay in the last 6 months. I bid on every raw one I see, and maybe win 20% of them, I always bid low.

be careful on raw though, there are reprints and to the untrained eye they look good.

Probably dont need the competition, as I like to buy these up and resell them.... image

In case you were wondering.....here is the Larry Fritsch reprint (the only reprint Ive seen)
Larry Fritsch 1948 Old Gold JR "Dugout" reprint

The difference on the reprints is the cropping of the photo, and the stock is thicker and the gloss (lack of), If you own an authentic one you will know what Im talking about, they are a very smooth glossy photos on medium weight stock. A bit more glossy and slightly thicker and less flimsy compared to a R314-1. Id say very similar to a HR Derby card too, but I dont have one right now to compare to.

Why not bump this thread again...
Maybe someone will see it and change the date of issue to 1947 and it will become a true rookie card just like the 1947 D302 and 1947 D305 image

Here is the last one I bid on a few days ago, I believe I was the underbidder
Vintage 1950s Old Gold Jackie Robinson Advertising Card

The card is NOT rare, Ive seen close to 100 on eBay alone, if not more
