"Your Team's" World Series Championship DVD collections... are they worth it?

So, my wife's asking for ideas of what to get me for Christmas. Being that the Giants won it all this year, I thought the DVD set of all 5 WS games would be a cool gift, but then I got to thinking... when would I ever watch this?

So, have any of you purchased DVD collections from your sports teams' championship seasons? Do you ever watch it? Is it worth the $60-$80?

You should go with the Sports Illustrated Hardcover book instead.

I never bought them and I think $60 - $80 is a bit much for games you could have recorded yourself.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

I got the soft-cover version of that book at the grocery store. I read it once and said "meh."

First get a DVR!! I own the 2005 White Sox DVD set. I hardly ever watch it but LOVE owning it. Wait a little while and the price will get lower. You can get the White Sox set new on ebay all day for under $20.

  • I have the Bucs Super Bowl DVD from back when they won it all. No idea how expensive it because I was only 11 at the time, but whatever my Dad paid for it, it was money well spent image.

And you may think you'd never watch it, but 5 years from now when the Giants lose 100 games you may want something to look back on besides Youtube clips image

You will never watch it. If you do, it'll be game 5 only. Save your money, get the highlight video instead.

    What Rock said.

Edited to say it wasn't a very exciting World Series, but then I'm not a Giants fan!

I just bought 50 of them for my friend who is a Cubs fan. Actually it was a 50 count spindle of BLANK DVR's, but I think you get the point...
  • i own the 1986 Set

i was 15 at the time and have vivid memories of it before watching it on DVD, but it was great to watch over again a few winters back

its hard to say if owning a 2010 DVD Box is going to be worth it to you. everyone is different. but look at it this way, its a great gift to get from someone you love

  • I'm buying the Giants DVD set. You can get 25% off 1 item until 11/22 at mlb.com.

On the DVD set there are 4 audio channels. I want to hear the KNBR guys call the games.

I have all the games on DVR but hate listening to Buck/McCarver.
