? about scanning w/ color enhancements?

..is it considered acceptable to use the "RESTORE FADED COLOR" button to help my faded/washed out colors on my scanner or is that considered dishonest?? Has anyone ever received a card that looked WAYYYY better in the scan than in person or have they for the most part been close? The reason I ask, is just recently I realized that my old scanner has a "RESTORE FADED COLOR" button that makes the red in my slabs look almost natural and not washed out like the default.....

use a '86 Fleer Basketball card with the red, white, and blue borders. Try to set them to match those colors as close as possible and you should be fine for any other issues.

The Quick, Clear, Consise, and to the Point Answer is........If it changes the Color of the Card.............Yes It Is...Dishonest Period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Quick, Clear, and Consise Answer, is Yes and it is Theft by Deception!!!!!
Why would you even have to ask?

Because my old scanner washes the colors out and makes them look not quite like the original. The cards themselves look better in hand than in my scan.
the new models are 330 and 33 so I would guess the 300 and the 30 are discounted models now
<< <i>My old scanner is an HP G4010. It still works and all, but I was so impressed with the scans of the Epson V30, that I bought one. I haven't hooked it up yet, as I am computer challenged and am dreading it, but look forward to some improvements..... >>
It's so easy, even a caveman could do it... Really, there's nothing to it. Just hook up the USB cable, run the Epson disc and plug it in and power it up. The only thing you'll need to do is assign the folder that you'll save your scans to. If you want to get a little more daring, you can play around with the settings and set up various folders, but the out of box settings should be fine and a drastic improvement over what you've been getting out of the HP unit.

No enhancements....straight out the box.....
I guess I am up!?

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Yea...the Epson is a good scanner and at $60, it won't break the bank!! I know my girlfriend woulda got me one for Xmas, but I just couldn't wait....
I did hit the (COLOR ENHANCE) on the first picture, so it isn't quite a fair comparison....I will scan another card with my EPSON that I already scanned with my HP....
No doubt the upgrade to the new scanner is a plus all the way. The Gibson on the right is incredible. The 50 bowman card is so much clearer. The Pittsburgh hat is
sharp and the trees in the background are nice and in focus not all faded out like the one on the left.
Great pics!

Nice Avatar Bobby, I used to Read Richie Rich when I was a kid
Big difference between the two scanners, I am hoping to catch a sale on one this Friday.

Just picked one up at Staples this morning. As I thought I have no clue.
How do I crop this? Center it? Do I need som type of software? For example, after installing the disc I took my first scan and it saved
on the ARC Soft Media Impression Photo Viewer. At least that is how it came up. I have no clue how to go where to go from here.
Anyone can help? I must be doing a lot wrong.
Here's my one pic:
OH MY! HELP!
When you scan, use the PREVIEW and you will be able to use several features. First, you can drag your outline for the card using the left mouse button and starting in one corner and dragging to the opposite corner. Or just use the MARQUEE features (the lower left of the four will outline the image). Keep your scanner lid up and you will have better success and it will provide a better background. Once you hit SCAN, you will be able to assign the folder(s) where you want to save the images.
After you master this, you can learn how to put four PSA cards on the scanner bed and set the scanner to scan each of the four and assign them to four separate files with one click...
Thanks Scott!
Thanks. I will play with it some during the Thanksgiving weekend.

Thanks....I have around 6 long boxes that I have been lugging around ever since I was 10. I have 3 #1 issues floating around somewhere.......it was between him, Incredible Hulk, and X-Men as a young pre-teen.......I am glad to see I made the right decision from an investment standpoint (note the sarcasm here).....

Four at one time!?!?! And it will scan them separately?? That is one trick I would love to learn!!!!
