BTW, what is it 1948 or 1949...why do they call it 1948-1949?

I am guessing because Leaf didn't have an issue in 1949. Think of also the same way Fleer basketball says 1986-87.

thanks...wow they have shot up from last time i remember they sold on ebay for $700-$800 regularly...but been a couple years...

I think that it is because many now think that none of these cards were issued in 1948 but many want to hold onto that designation bc of the rookie card connotation. There have been several threads on the Net54 Forum about this very subject. Excellent reading and scholarship.

Jackie Robinson has some 1947 food issues. I got this raw for around $80 last month on Ebay (got it graded right away by SGC). I'm satisfied enough with this card that I'm not going to try to aquire the 1949 Leaf or Bowman cards for my collection.

The Leaf set is from 1949, not 1948, even though some cards have a 1948 copyright.
The Leaf Baseball set was only issued in 1949.
This has been know for a few years now, but many were/are slow to pick up on the correction.

BTW There are very cheap cards of Robinson that were issued earlier than the Leaf card...

the D305 with rounded corners was only issued in 1947 with Bond Bread

The Exhibit card with a "MADE IN USA" line of 5/8" wide, was only made in 1948, and can be had on eBay for under $25 often.
