Chicago Sun Times Show-Roll Call

Who is going to the Sun Times Show this weekend? I have a table for 5 at Gibson's (right across from the convention center) on Saturday at 6:00 PM. If any board members are going, maybe we can have a semi-small group dinner.

After those four National League games, Gorman Thomas was never the same, and neither were the Brewers, and come to think of it neither was I.

I'll be there with along with SVTPony95 Saturday.... Morgoth always takes in this show too, but he might not make till Sunday this time.

Gibson's is good, but too rich for my blood. Giordano's is a tradition for my crew! Can't get pizza like that anywhere around here in Indy.

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!

    Talon,

Step it up a notch and try the legendary Gino's East - on Higgins - real close to the Convention Center. IMO, much better than Giordano's.
  • Hope to be there Sunday for sure and possibly all three days.

    Two questions-

Do most of the dealers only take cash? Does anyone take credit cards?

    Also,

Any cheap places for parking around the convention center?
  • A good number of the dealers take credit cards. Though, I only take cash because I've gotten bad checks in the past. I'm selling vintage in spaces 177-179. I'm local, if you have any questions on food, drink, or whatever, stop by and I'd be happy to recommend.

Cheapest parking is in the CTA lot just north of the convention center. I think the cost is $5.

Cumberland- I think that's where I parked the day I went last year. A bit of a walk, but nothing terrible.

    I'll drop by your booth.

Do most dealers put everything out on Friday, or does anyone hold stuff back for the Sat and Sunday heavier traffic days?
  • Generally, all merchandise is out from 4 p.m. Friday through 4 p.m. Sunday. A few guys don't show up until Saturday and a few leave early Sunday.

I'm heading over tonight to set up.
  • Anyone know if there are any coupons in the paper or online for a reduced admission? I can't find anything online, but I haven't see a Sun Times in a long time.

I've decided to head down for Saturday. I'll be roaming the floor in a Buffalo Sabres Miroslav Satan jersey. I'm about six foot, 210, I wear glasses (usually, unless I forget them), and I'll probably have a backpack. If anyone wants to flag me down I'll be happy to head over to concessions and buy the first round of suds!
  • Just an amazing show so far. I think I spent three hours this morning and early afternoon going through boxes of cards and haggling on price with dealers. Great fun. No autographs yet- hopefully going to snag a couple of big names tomorrow. There is so much to see though. You could easily spend days going through all of the boxes looking for hidden treasures.

The old stuff is just so beyond my price range that I can't help but admire the people are on in it deep. Lots of respect for the PSA guys who work on the old sets.
