What Do You Think is a Great Bargain in Autographed Cards?

Here is my top 5 Deals
1. Otto Graham Certified Autograph Cards (The 1999 Sport Illustrated Greats of the Game at $15 to $20 a piece are best deal out there, Graham is one of the greatest Quarterbacks of all and he has been dead for 7 years, his autograph sell for a $100)

2. 1995 Walter Payton Autograph Phone Card (the card be found for under $100 on a good day, there was a ton of them on Ebay years ago they have at least doubled in price since Upper Deck started cutting them up and putting them cards)

3. George Mikan 1996 Topps Stars Reprint Autographs (This one of the sweetest cards around a Reprint of the famed 1948 Bowman Card signed by now the now deceased first great player in NBA history, still sells for under $100, is probably Mikans cheapest true certified autograph card and definitely his nicest looking.

4. The Older 50 Greatest Players like Bill Sharman, Dolph Schayes, Bob Pettit, and even the late Paul Arizin. These four legends are a bargain and getting older and hugely undervalued. There are guys like Gervin and Unseld that have certifieds that sell for $5. No Player in the 50 Greatest should sell for less than $5.00 especially older players like Sharman. These guys at show are 5 to 10 Times the of their certified autographs. Can You Say, Bargain!

5. Hockey Legends other than Gretzky, Howe, Orr, Yzerman, Roy, Messier, and Lemieux. It seems like you can get every Hockey Hall of Fame certified like a $1,000 that is more than 100 Players. Johnny Bucyk cost me less than a $1.00 and Joe Mullen ran me six pennies. Hockey will recover eventually. There are some fantastic deals still out there combined with a terrible economy.

I would like here what you think.

  • Good obversations. Thanks for sharing.

I think the Topps RC Reprint Autos (all sports) are great deals with lots of room to move.

As far as eBay, I love it when you can get a certified auto in a PSA/DNA case of a HOF or someone I like for around the submission fee or less.

Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

  • I couldn't agree more about the hockey auto's. Even Lemieux's autos can be won cheap on ebay when they come up for auction. I won an 11x14 photo authenticated by psa for $40 a little over a year ago. Also just got my x-mas gift from the wife a little early this year. She won a jsa authenticated Mike Bossy jersey for $93 dollars. I thought that it was going to be a crappy jersey but when I got it the jersey it was a throwback with the name and numbers stiched just like one you would by in the strores for $150.
  • They are great. Another one my favorites is the Hal Newhouser 1997 Topps Stars RC Reprint Autograph. It is only True certified that was intended to be a Certified Autograph Card, everything else with Newhouser is a Cut usually from the Hall of Fame postcards. I hate when the card companies especially upper deck cut up other cards, postcards, index cards, and checks. Like a Frank Gatski signed Swell Hall of Fame card, which is a couple dollars on a good day, Upper Deck puts the same card on a Cut and now it's $50 and people bid on them.

Bill Sharman is doing a signing coming up for $15 per card...

  • Greg "The Hammer" Valentine 1982A Second Edition blue back PSA/DNA. That card has absolutely nowhere to go but up.
I just saw one on EBay that looked like someone autographed it with their face and even that one went for $650. And it might have gone for much more if I hadn't gotten in early with a strong bid to clear out the riffraff.

  • 0.88 for a hall of famer is very good deal.
  • Hockey autographs are so cheap I bought Paul Coffey, Phil Housley, and Vincent Damphousse certified for $5. Even players like Phil Esposito are so cheap. I paid $11 for Brendan Shanahan a tough autograph and I think it was super deal. Even Gordie Howe is a bargain. I bought a Upper Deck Certified Gordie Howe for $33.00 shipped, he is getting up there in the years and he is very expensive at shows. Frank Mahovlich for $5, Mike Bossy is dirt cheap and can be had for $5.
