I should have put a bit more info on this, sorry, but the "Authentic" grade usually brings 90.00-120.00

All you need is 2 newbies that think an Authentic grade on a modern card is "Good"

But I too wouldnt have known what that card is worth NOW, Im totally blind to those cards now, Ive seen it like 101,000 times now image same with the Henderson, Montana, Ripken, Jordan, etc rookies.

Pricey Common modern stuff IMO image

authentic only brings 90.00? Man I dont think thats right. I would put 200 on a clean authentic. meaning one that couldnt get by the graders. But his auth was ugly. But 90.00. Seems like a steal.
I have a 1979 Topps of this that I bought when I was about 14 for 400.00 the thing was mint. Welll... I sent it to SGC one of the first cards I ever sent in for grading. They gave it a 92. Wasnt happy with the grade so I cracked it out. Oh yeah, Well PSA said Trimmed. And it is by a lot but I still wouldnt put a value on it of under 150 even as a topps card if it were to ever be in an authintic case. 1/4 inch plastic and never for sale. But if I can get a trimmed OPC to put next to it for 90.00 Ill take it.

But bc of this topps card being trimmed I bought this PSA 8 around 5 years later. And Im scared it might be trimmed bc I fee cursed by the gretzky. Hopefully its not though.

I say this bc if I could buy an OPC with the same felling I do with any gretzky that I will own from now on taht I would have rather paid 90.00 for an 8 looking card.

Now that I posted these scans on the back under the etz of gretzky sticks out. Not good. So looks like I have spent 1500.00 on about 150.00 worth of cards. Nice

I had been watching that card and was shocked when it got up to $190.00...can't believe it ended over $300.00! image

The "Authentic" grade for OPCs sell for 90-120 (maybe somebody can do a VCP search to verify this).

$300 for that card was way too much IMO. It does look nice and I was going to throw in about $125 -- but to see it reach $300 was just shocking.

I can't help but think the worse in this situation -- with the high bidder being "private" I wonder if this Gretzky will be cracked out and sent to a less reputable grading company for a chance at a 9-10 by their standards. Could be cracked and thrown in a raw OPC set to increase desire. Could just be someone willing to pay a lot for a clean looking Gretzky.
