Any opinions on Memory Lane's OWN IT NOW auction/store?

...it seems like they aren't selling anything.....I am seeing the Rose rookie card that sold last year in REA's auction for $19,000. The seller is trying to get $25,000, but since the market softened a bit since then, he might be hard pressed to just break even on the card......

  • Very few sales indeed Bobby, Its overpriced! Why pay such a premium for a card based on the where the market is today.

I predict that JP gets bored with cards and closes ML in about 3 years.

Yea...it's a bull vs bear market and so far the bears are prevailing! Seems like no one wants to pay premiums for cards anymore (GREAT if you are a buyer - BAD if you are a seller).....

I thought he sold 10% of the items in the first 24 hours. He doesn't need daily sales with #'s like that to make the business model work. His main challenge will be to keep the inventory fresh, and identify what to do with those things that did not sell in the first go around [I imagine that most are consignment, so he's not in a cash flow challenge either way --]

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • Is anyone else intrigued by lot #3, the Bobby Jones collection?

15 cards. All high grade. SGC 96 33 Sport Kings and US Caramel. "Only" about $13k a card. Seems like an interesing investment lot. Seems like vintage golf still has a long ways to go in terms of maturing.

The 33 Goudey #181 Ruth SGC 96 seems cheap at $75 k. Didn't a PSA 9 of that card sell for $100 k? I'd rather have that than 3 Rose rookies at $25 k each.

Great cards and seems fair. Just nobody has that kind of money right now. Or they already have the money and the cards.

The people who buy $25,000 to $75,000 pieces still have the money. They simply realize that most don't and are waiting for prices to fall.

They still want the cards but are looking for a steal because there are many desperate dealers.
