Johnny Logan at Milwaukee Show 11-14-10

Johnny Logan will be signing up to 12 items for just $10 this Sunday at the Gonzaga show in Milwaukee. Also, Tom Andrews will be signing copies of his new book about the Milwaukee Braves, and the show features a nice selection of modern and vintage cards along with a live auction.

This is generally a nice show. I have been attending on and off for many years. They get some local people for autos, and normally at low prices.

I will see if I can make it.

After those four National League games, Gorman Thomas was never the same, and neither were the Brewers, and come to think of it neither was I.

  • Sorry, I goofed. It is $10 per item and he'll sign up to 12 items.
  • I've been attending/setting up at this local show for 20+ years.
It's fairly a solid show. There's a decent mix of dealers with old/new. There's a couple of new wax dealers there too.

My only complaint with the show:
The auction which runs from 10am to about noon is very annoying. The place isn't that large and they still have the auctioneers miked thru some speakers at full volume. You can't hold a conversation with
anyone that's right in front of your table unless you're nearly shouting. Plus the auction runs too long. There's some good deals in it sometimes, along with the usual lots of '80's garbage.

The show's worth checking out at least once if you've never been to it and it's within a reasonable drive.

This monthly show run's from 9am to 2pm. Most dealers start packing it in at 1pm. Some bail at noon during the Football season (like me).

I haven't been to the Gonzaga show in years, but have set up at the Serb Hall show a few times in the past few years. They started having the same auctioneer as the Gonzaga show and I couldn't agree more about how annoying it is. It isn't as though people from the other side of the room are participating in the auction. Everyone participating is huddled around the auctioneer.

Who is running the Gonzaga show these days? I heard the news about Leroy a few months ago and wondered if the show would go on. I assume his son is running it, but am curious.
  • Leroy's son Keith is now running the show and he's doing a terrific job. He's limited the amount of items in the auction and it no longer drags on. Though I think the auction adds some color to the show. I'll have four tables of vintage on Sunday and I generally don't pack up until 1 or 2 p.m. I also like the Serb Hall show and just recently started setting up there. I hope to see you guys Sunday!
  • I agree, Keith is doing a fine job running the show and following in his dad's footsteps. Keith being a younger guy, I think he's more open to changing some things at the show going forward too. Like hopefully turning down the volume of the auction.

Auction volume didn't seem too bad.

Picked up this nice one, love the rough cut

  • Cool card. I thought there was a pretty nice turn out. Did anyone else notice former MLB pitcher Ken Sanders walking around with his grandkids? I thought the coolest moment of the show was when an autographed Johnny Logan baseball came up in the auction and Johnny Logan shouted "How much?"
  • I played all of my LL ball at Logan Field named, I believe, after our town's only MLB star. Tell Mr Logan that Endicott is still proud of him.
