Today was the monthy Parsippany Coin Show in NJ. I arrived around 9:15 and the place was packed with people. Eveywhere you looked, people were trying to sell silver and gold to dealers. There was a wide spread of offers from $2 under to 50 cents under. I sold a total of 30 ounces for around 50 cents under spot. People were speculating where the prices will go. There was some definte hesitancy from some dealers to buy bullion, and I can't blame them! Its amazing how different dealers offer such different amounts for the same thing.

My goal at this show was to sell 30 ounces of silver which was a success, and to look for some Baltimore newps. The silver I sold was for a little less than I would have wanted, but it was just sitting on the BST. I saw some decent early type, which seems to be in high demand, but prices seemed high compared to other sources I have seen. 1700's early type with issues were still sitting for months even though they had been discounted. I spent a total of $6 at the show for lunch! image

One dealer I was hoping would be there was Steve Sabatino aka SLQ coins. I recalled at the last show he has a nice PCGS F15 Flowing Hair dollar that looked untampered with, and I was hoping to trade mine with cash or other trade for his. Mine was a NGC VG10 and was probably cleaned at some point in time. After talking and discussing, I traded him my VG10 dollar, a 1855 PF 62 Flying Eagle pattern for his PCGS F15 dollar, some cash and a $5 gold commem (which I turned into cash at the show). The coin has a nice gray patina which shows it hasnt been tampered with. There are a few marks here and there, but nothing major. Overall I was happy with the trade and am thrilled to upgrade to a nice looking coin. Steve was very easy to deal with and I will make sure to deal with him again.

Board members I saw at the show were Seaeaglecoins, The Fonz and Kiushu (spelling?), and DaveG for a second. I missed oreville, but hope to see him next month.

Here is my new Flowing Hair Dollar. There is some glare from the OTT light.
