Can you advise on how to keep from getting screwed on ebay?

Gents
I made the decision to finish out the 1952 Topps set, but to humble myself down to a PSA 3-4 grade. I therefore am going to sell all the high grade stuff starting with the 8s and then down. That said my plan is to post 4 on ebay tomorrow at Buy it now. Over the past year of lurking I've seen lots of posts about getting screwed on ebay and want to be sure to protect myself as best as possible. That said I know I need to send with signature verification.
Posts of the cards being sold are below (plus a Phil Caverretta SGC 88). I will list for $210 each plus postage (Cavarretta will be $700). My feedback is 100% with almost 400 instances.

I also plan to require insurance. My questions are:
- Do I simply charge $10 shipping per item which includes insurance and signature verification?
- Or is it better to list out costs and itemize the shipping charges?
Even though I am undercutting all the other PSA 8s being listed, I am not fully confident they will sell. But since I have made only total of 5 sales (all under $100) on ebay, any cautionary advice would be welcome. Thanks for taking the time.

Good luck with the sales and good luck with your new goal.
If I were a buyer I would not think $10 shipping for the first card (these cards) is unreasonable, but some will. Just add shipping to your BIN and advertise as "Free Shipping," this will keep the buyer from rating your Shipping and Handling DSR.
Also, remember to click the box to accept automatic payment from buyer
Good luck, nice cards!

As far as shipping, you should probably charge less than ten bucks for a single graded card. Since you are going the BIN route rather than the auction route, just add any loss you would take to the BIN price. Either way it is good to mention in your item description that the shipping cost does include sigcon and full insurance.

<< <i>Since you don't have much of a seller history, I would recommend selling your lower-priced cards first, build up some positive recent feedback, then sell the PSA 8 cards.

I think 3-400 feedback is a-ok.

I can only speak for myself..... but when I am looking to buy from a seller I've never bought from before, I couldn't care less how high their overall feedback number is. I only care about their history as a seller. And I might think twice about buying a $200 card from someone who only has five total sales.
Not saying I wouldn't pull the trigger under any circumstances, but it would be a factor in my decision.

ahhhhhhhhh I see now that last line hiding under that hige image....yeah 4-5 sales could be a red flag to some...if only listing about 3-4 at a time, WalterSobchak's advice is golden.
<< <i>You can send them express mail with insurance and signature confirmation and all the buyer has to do is say that there is a scratch on the back of the holder, send you a rock in a bubble mailer and he will get a forced refund from you and keep your card. Good Luck. >>
He could be just returning the rock...
Offer "free" shipping; add the cost to your BIN.
Use SigCon. Make SURE you note that you will
be using SigCon in your listing AND state that the
buyer will need to be present to sign for delivery.
Send tracking info to the buyer so that he knows
approx when he will need to be available to sign.
......................
Your FB is good enough.
Buyers know that PayPal will rescue them if they
get a bad seller.
.............................................
Use BOTH front and back scans of your cards, in
your listings.
.............
Fraudulent SNAD claims are at RECORD levels. The
fraud will get worse as the holidays get closer.
If you have a merchant account from another of your
business enterprises, consider using it INSTEAD of
PayPal.

There it is right there. I will try some other venues. NET54 is new to me and I will take a look.
I was enticed by ebays "Happy anniversary - come on and post your items for free" email and inherentaly wanted to be slapped down.
Thanks for the advice.

I believe this is not an eBay problem but a paypal one. If you sell a card on NET54 and use paypal, the guy can send you a rock and get a refund.

PayPal item SNAD is only for eBay transactions. Outside of eBay the only claim that is not automatically closed by PayPal is Item Not Received. Outside of eBay the seller can send the buyer a rock and there is nothing the buyer can do, except enjoy his rock.
