Topps Quality Control just gets Worse and Worse (and CS too)

I generally more of a Topps Fanboy and big proponent. For those that know me I was very very heavily involved in the Topps Million Giveaway. Well, I just emailed Topps customer support about a retail box of Topps Chrome I recently purchased. You see, more than 1 out of every 6 cards in the box was so badly miscut that the full pictures barely made the cards and the Prince Fielder included the Silver side of the sheet.

On a low end product I wouldn't complain about this but c'mon, I bought 1000s of 2010 Topps base cards and while some were slightly OC, not a single miscut. Clearly this was missed in quality control.

Customer Service finally responded with the following:

<< <i>We are sorry to hear that your recent purchase of a Topps product contained damaged cards. Please note that the policy of the Topps Company regarding the request for replacement product items requires that the consumer include the following items with their submission:

1) A letter of explanation
2) A copy of sales receipt
3) All pack wrappers & or mini boxes from the product
4) The UPC code (bar code) from the Main box
5) All Damaged items >>

  • Hard to see the cards well in your images....but those are pretty bad.

When scanning cards with white borders, leave the scanner lid up.

Good call, I'll try to rescan them.
  • open scanner didn't work... these cards came with a natural curvature, so it caused glare.... I was able to add a background with colored paper though. I've updated the pictures in the first post.

A couple years ago I bought a pack of Topps football cards that had some good rookies that all had bent corners. It wasn't an expensive pack but the pulls were good so I sent them all back to Topps with all the proper documentation. They replaced the cards rather quickly. So hopefully they should help you out. Good luck and let us know how it ends up.

  • In the year 2010, those miscuts are absolutely unacceptable. Those are worse than cuts you would see in the early 80s.

Jeff would love those for his "museum!"

You should send him a PM or just send them my way and I'll add them into a pile I was putting together for him.
