Can you help me grade this?

I purchased my first $20 piece and am pretty happy with the coin.
Is this mint state? I can't see any real obvious wear on it. Do the surfaces look ok?
There is a bit of haze on the right obverse which may be dip residue?
The luster does cartwheel like it should... What do you think it might grade?

AU58 if that is rub on the cheek.

If no rub on the cheek MS63+.

That's about what I figured. I will likely send it in to be graded so I can know for sure.
If it come's back MS63, I did pretty well value wise. If it's AU58 I overpaid just a bit.
It's all good, gold prices will very soon catch up to what I paid for it either way. image

Edited to add. I'm mostly curious about the surface haze spots. Does gold tend to aquire haze?
Is it an indicator of the surfaces being tampered with?

There's no rub on that cheek. Worst case looks to be MS63 and it has a shot at 64 based on marks alone. Luster looks ok. Can't give you an answer on that whitish residue w/o seeing it in hand. It would probably dip off and not hurt the coin...assuming it's not hiding anything. In fact the luster might be much more powerful with that haze removed. Definitely an unc coin.

It's not uncommon to see haze like this on the $20's, whether acquired by original means or some other. To check for it being legit put it under a 10X glass and check for signs of die polish lines and die cracks.....and an absence of any type of raised "tooling" marks. Most likely fine if you can find raised polishing lines near/inside numerals, lettering, devices.

Are you sure it's real? Counterfeits are known for this year. It looks too clean and free of bag marks for a Lib double eagle which makes me suspicious.

My first thought. The detail is very sharp and looks too clean to be true. This would be a 65 coin if the luster is OK and it's real.

64 if not cleaned but rub is probable to AU-58 regardless of cleaning

OK, I gave it a close look with a 10x loupe. It does have small die polish lines, so that's encouraging.
The surfaces confound me still. They look great at a glance, but up close I think I see circulation wear.
I'm going to go with AU58+ just to be conservative.
