Question for player collectors

Does your collection include cards where the player you collect is in the background? How do you find out what is out there?

Mine does, but they're tough to find. Some players have a comprehensive list of cameo cards, but Frank Thomas isn't one of them.

  • I do. Unfortunately I don't have a complete list of my player either. Really tough is chasing the #1/1s and low print inserts.

I used to collect any card that had Mike Bossy on it. While I was building his player sets I contacted PSA's Set Registry department to confirm that certain stickers would be allowed, as well as a couple other items with him clearly pictured and part of a playoff series. They gave me the green flag and I bought raw about $75-$100 worth of these cards, subbed about 25-30 of them, and then had the PSA Registry department not approve of the items to be added to his master set.

When I was a player collector I did, NBA cards seem to have a lot of multi player photos so there was a lot.

I collect Peyton Manning and am up to 517 different cards, but for now, only cards where he is listed or a team card/checklist where pictured are being added.

Not unless it has Ripken mentioned in print on the front or the back of the card.

Yep! ... but I'm one of the craziest player collectors out there. I have no checklist of cards w/ player in the background, just add cards as I see/find them.
