Ebay auctions

Do any of you become suspicious of a card listed as a buy it now for half of the asking price of another card listed on Ebay with the same PSA grade? (PSA 4) I believe that the card listed at a higher price is a bit inflated ($1,500) but I am skepical that the other card listed ($750) might be some type of scam. Also, the person that is listing the cheaper card has 345 feedback at 100% positive but this is is first as a seller. All other sales are as a buyer.

Even though it is graded i am now fearful of people cracking out the cards and replacing them with fakes. Does that happen often with PSA 4's?

Verify the cert # with PSA to ensure it is what the listing says it is. If the guy has 100%, that's good. Pay with a credit card, if it turns into a hassle, you will eventually get all your coin back. If you want the card, I'd say go for it.
  • Kinda need more info to give more direct feedback. As far as faking a PSA 4, well I doubt anyone is doing it to a 1990 Frank Thomas, but something like a 1951 Bowman Mantle certainly is worth it to the person pulling the scam. As far as prices, compare the asking price to what completed auctions have sold for to judge whether it is normal. Comparing to other BIN listings is hard because sellers can list any crazy price they want but it does not mean that is what the card is worth.
  • Judging by the other cards he has up for sale, I would assume it is legit. Plus, it looks legit.

He has bought a lot of cards in the past few months on eBay, all vintage. It's probably just a collector who is looking to sell off some inventory to buy more cards.

Guys list cards on eBay at high prices to impress their lady friends.
  • There is no recent PSA 4 info on VCP (last 4 sold a year ago for $459), the VCP average on a PSA 5 is $1,032, so $750 doesn't seem too out of line. $1,500 for a PSA 4 is ridiculous.
