Anyone play with Taylor Made Burner 2.0 Irons?

I am considering getting me some new sticks. My X-14's are showing their age.

I bought some Callaway Diablo Edge irons at the start of the summer. Had them custom fitted with graphite shafts. I love them. I've played with Ping since college and this is the first time I've switched. I've never hit the Taylor Made's.

these are what I hit. I'd recommend them. Or the newer Titleist blades.

I'd skip changing out the irons and buy the Taylor Made SuperFast woods.

I still use my old Mizuno forged irons I got in '03 or so
  • They always told me the biggest part of the game was between your ears. Years ago I bought a set of Ping Eye 1 irons and a set of Ping Eye 2 woods from a friend who had gotten to the point he could no longer play. Best move I ever made. Within a few months my score had improved by about 8 strokes a round. If you want a set of Taylor Made Burners, by all means buy them and convince yourself it's the best move you have ever made. It should make a big difference.

Now I am no longer able to play but I'm keeping the clubs. I once shot a 32 on the front side of my favorite course with them.

    Good Luck,
    Ron

  • I was a Ping guy for years and switched to the Taylor made and it was great.

I can't recommend Cleveland irons more highly. I've been playing Cleveland for at least 7 years. I didn't know so many of you guys got out on the links. Hit me up if you're ever in Los Angeles. My brother and I are also taking a golf trip to Chambers Bay next summer (site of the 2015 US Open). They played the US Amateur there this year and it looked really fun on TV so we decided to go for it!

I still hit my Mizunos (from 2000 or 2001), forged is the way to go.

It may just be me, I think that I get a little bit more distance from forged irons over cavity backs. I can hit my forged cleveland gap wedge as far as my cavity-backed pitching wedge. I seem to have a little more consistancy with the cavity backed.

I have never complied with the 14 club rule, I carry 4 cleveland wedges, 50, 52, 56, 60. I only carry 3-9 irons, 3 & 4 hybrids, two 3 woods, one was a whippy graphite shaft that I can cut the he11 out of the ball with and the other is a R7 with a steel shaft setup for a draw. Same with my driver, I carry two of them, one for a cut and the other for a draw. My two other clubs are my 5 and 7 wood.

    I am considering adding a 48 or a 58 degree cleveland wedge and a 2 hybrid.

As you can tell, I always use a golf cart. No telling how much my bag weighs.

Have your wedges checked for actual loft, sometimes what's marked on the club isn't always true. Factory lofts have been off by 3-4 degrees on some I've checked and that's a whole club difference in distance.

Chambers is a 10 minute drive from my house. My daughter loves going for walks there.
