List your keywords to surf eBay

I know the majority of us here regularly surf eBay listings for new purchases; I always start my search with Indo-China, then ANACS, then NGC, then PCGS; what's yours?

My most popular search criteria: "8 Reales" image
  • Mine are PCGS/Canada, then PCGS World/Great Britain, then NGC, then ANACS World/Great Britain.

I discount any NGC or ICCS piece by 1 point; ANACS is worth a same grade shot for crossover to PCGS...
No,no- the kids and the cat are all right honey.
It's just that I got my PCGS grades.

I haven't done much there lately, but I'm with SaorAlba - learn to use search operators! (and set results to worldwide)

Here's one of my old saved searches: ital* (186*,190*,191*) -(VF,gold,euro)

Use the asterisk to search for all variants in one fell swoop: my term catches italy, italian, italia (italian), italie (french), italienisch (german), etc, etc

Terms in parenthesis separated by commas to search for any of those: mine catches anything from the 1860s and between 1900-1919

Hyphen to get rid of junk results: don't want euros or gold and I was having way too many things show up in VF, which I didn't want

Thanks Eric, excellent reply. Saor Alba's was encrypted for us, self taught guys.

It was one of the things I always wanted to know, but nobody was willing to show me. I was thinking, "what kind of complicated algorithms these guys use and get results from all over the world in one go?" image

Is there a way to search all world eBay locales without having to do the .fr, .de thing for each? Thanks.

    Dave,
Doing a regular search and then picking the Worldwide checkbox under Locations at left on the results page gives you more than you'd otherwise get, but it still doesn't show everything you'd get from a search at, say, ebay.de. A regular search in the Coins & Paper category for "klein*" at ebay.com gives 23 results, with Worldwide checked you get 713 results, but on ebay.de in the Münzen category you get 1483 results. I have no idea why that is or how to work around it other than hitting the local sites if you really need something.

I think it's because 713 sellers Worldwide will post to your country. The remainder of the 1483 sellers probably only list Germany as the only postage they will post to (so they don't show up in your country). I have in the past messaged US sellers that only list post to US or Canada and convinced them to let me bid on and have them post to the UK in the past though. Sometimes its worth asking.
