I visited India for two months in 1984 and stayed in Hyderabad,
where I took this picture as it looked familiar.

I remember the design of some coins from Hyderabad and recently found
this silver Rupee from AH 1361 or AD 1942.

Kind of neat to see on a coin a place that I visited.

Of course, I have been to Washington DC's Lincoln Memorial also.

I like their coins, and would like to collect the paper money that they issued right up until a couple of years after Indian independence.

Looking at the coin image vs the photo ..... I wonder what happened to the center minaret image
    maybe a different angle/view
  • I've got a nice rupee, with some cool die breaks across the design. I'll see if I can scan it. It was my first Indian coin.

I wonder what happened to the center minaret

It's on the other side of the building.

Look at the right (east) side of the photo.

I wonder if there didn't used to be a building on this side too since the
artist was at some elevation (40') which caused a different look to the tops
    of the columns.
