Autographs

Hey, just a lurker with a question. I'm looking at an item that is auto'd by three athletes and has verification via:
http://www.onlineauthentics.com
I'm not a big auto guy, so I know nothing about which authenticators are good, bad, ugly, etc. I was kind of assuming that things with Upper Deck seals on them would be good, and items that are encapsulated/graded would be good. But, are COAs from places like the above legit too?
Thanks!

However, despite being nice guys and knowing their stuff, their certs aren't going to carry as much weight as those with higher advertising budgets (PSA and JSA) if you're looking for resale value.
Is that your ride in your avatar? Got a bigger pic?

<< <i>Thanks! Not looking for resale, just want to know it's legit. The problem is the item I'm looking at seems to have absurd BIN prices of 600-1,000. Then there's this one that's selling for 200, but has this particular COA. From what I've heard, many COAs are a joke. I just didn't know if this site was "a joke". >>
What item is it? Link?
@csmtampa - eBay Item ...Of course, don't go buying it on me, lol...I'm trying to make a shadow box of this item, my Game 6 ticket, some of the confetti I grabbed, and a picture of the garden while people were celebrating...

<< <i>OnlineAuthentics.com offers a Physical Review program that allows our users to submit items for physical examination by our Review Staff, a group of some of the most knowledgeable and experienced dealers and collectors in the industry.
Many collectors have large collections of signed sports memorabilia and we invite our users to send us items for our Review Staff to evaluate. Once our Review Staff determines an item meets our review parameters we will then issue a numbered letter outlining what the item is as well as our review of the item.
We will also offer our users the option of having their item tagged with an OnlineAuthentics.com numbered ID label. This label will be tamper proof and the ID number will be retrievable from our Online Registry.
Our Online Authentics Database will be available online and will not only provide a text description of the item but it will also contain a picture of the exact signature on the users item. OnlineAuthentics.com believes that a picture speaks a thousand words and our Online Authentics process leaves nothing to be said. This service provides consumers with the ultimate level of confidence available in the marketplace.
OnlineAuthentics.com has a very simple pricing schedule for items submitted for Physical Review and is as follows:
Items containing one (1) signature will be assessed a Review charge of $50.00
Items containing two (2) or more signatures will be assessed a Review charge of $100.00
Remember once your submitted item meets our Review parameters an image of the signature will be available online and will always be their for you.
We ask that prior to shipping any items to us that you email us what it is you will be sending so we can let you know what the return shipping charges will be. All items that are sent to us need to be shipped by way of a courier that allows for the item to be tracked during shipment and also requires the item to be signed for. UPS is the service we suggest but FedEx and the US Postal Service both offer similar services.
Happy Collecting,

Interesting observation on the onlineauthentics website. They never claim anything related to authenticity. The simply keep saying meet review parameters. No statements that they actual review for authenticity. Almost seems like there confirming the item only for registration purposes. Could simple be there choice of wording, but it almost seems like there being vague and non-specific on purpose.

<< <i>I just noticed that eBay actually gives Online Authentics their props. So, what the heck. I bought the item. Thanks! >>
Did you buy it directly and not thru eBay? The reason I am asking is because that item still appears FOR SALE on eBay.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Nah, I bought it through eBay. But...being the cheap guy I am, I had made an offer. He accepted and it should be off the table now (for better or worse...)
<< <i>unless he has a unlimited supply... >>
At first that's what i thought Vlad ... but wouldn't the seller have to start a new "for sale item" since the one originally listed was for only the one item?
