*Cal Ripken Jr. Homemade Signed Cachets*

In an attempt to organize my collection, I was going through some items to be sent to PSA/DNA for slabbing and I ran across these 20 plus year old homemade items that I thought I'd share. Obviously, being a Ripken fan, I was always on the radar as he passed each player on the consecutive game list. In 1989, he passed three players alone (Joe Sewell, Billy Williams & Steve Garvey), still six years away from Gehrig. As each game came, I would drive to Baltimore, get postal envelopes cancelled and subsequently type my own copy, use a Topps sticker, send to the player he passed and subsequently get Cal to sign.....I suppose the Joe Sewell one was my best as he passed away less than a year later...Anyways, here is my 20 year old attempt of competing with Gateway Cachets for your enjoyment!

Successful dealings with Wcsportscards94558, EagleEyeKid, SamsGirl214, Volver, DwayneDrain, Oaksey25, Griffins, Cardfan07, Etc.

I like the tie in with the Gerhig stamp.
Thanks for sharing.

<< <i>That was a really cool idea! I wish I had grown up closer to Baltimore. Would have made my collecting a little easier. >>
Thanks Jeff..The ironic thing is that I have never lived below the Mason Dixon Line and the closest I've ever lived to Baltimore was 110 miles!
Steve...appreciate the compliments as well!
