Can Heritage bids be cancelled once placed?

in a bonehead move, i entered bids on the wrong lot.......there are still 3 days remaining so i dont feel that my bid retraction would affect the integrity of the auction but i can find nowhere on Heritage's site for reversing a bid

please advise if anyone has experience with this

(for the record, if there is no way to undo my bid i plan to honor it and abide by the auction's result)

  • I have done it once. The coin I bid on, after closer review, had it's variety miss-attributed. I called and they left me off the hook. They are really nice over there. Must be a Texas thing image Anyway, it never hurts to ask.

Happened to me some years ago, and they gave me a pass as well. It occurred well before the auction was slated to go off, they were very nice about it, but advised me to be careful about it in the future. Took that advice and make absolutely sure before I enter a bid now on any coin. Give them a call.

Greg, call them up (quickly image), explain what happened and ask them to retract your bid. It is best if you can get them to do it and confirm it while you are still on the phone.

I have done it once. I thought the coin was something that it was not, in part due to the way the coin was described. I was the high bid at the time with a maximum bid that was much, much higher. I asked them to convert my max bid to my current high bid, and they complied.
  • I got trigger happy on a wildly spaced DDR on a 2 1/2 gold coin with the DDR on the holder without going by my normal rules of knowing the coin before buying said coin(I do this from time to time when one hits my cool button) and went to my reference books and found out that all coins of this date were DDR and I had bid 1.75x value for it. I called them up the same day which was weeks before the auction and canceled it after a small but deserved lecturing to.

If you rebid, I think the computer will accept a bid one increment higher than current bid. This will remove your high bid. Certainly HA will lower it to the current bid, but this needs a call to customer service.
