at least you have some items selling, seems that's not the case for many folks.

I love the once a week or more frequently guys lowballing on a cheap card, offering say $2 delivered for a $5 card, I've countered them with $3 and never hear back. And when I say a $5 card, that is it's actual value of typical sales.

  • Morning Ron,

Ok if you insist, I give you permission to Copy and send this to your Buyers if they ask where their item is within the first 5 days after an item ends. Its what I send to my whinee Buyers ...............when I happen to make a Sale!

    "Good Day,
Wow talk about all the Bad Luck! I's just so hard to believe that so much can go wrong all at the same time. Wouldn't you know it, your Auction ends the same day the Warranty runs out on my Transmogrifyer and it quits mogrifying. And you know I will listen to the the Wife in the future, she told me to pay the extra for the extended Warranty....But did I listen...........No!!!!!!!!
And then the darn Post Office suspends their Cross Country 4 hour guaranteed Rocket Mail Delivery service!!! Door to Door! Hard to fathom!!!! I was, as I am sure you were, just getting used to the service!!!
And the same week that my neighbor borrows my Instantaneous Transporter Unit and then, Can you believe it, leaves to go Baboon tagging in Senegal for two weeks with the darn unit locked in his shed!
The Irony and aspects of Murphy's Law are almost overwhelming!
So in closing, as you paid (Insert days) ago and I sent your item the next day after you paid, it will be delivered by the Post Office in a reasonable time, not instataneously!

    Have a Great Day!!

    It's always something.

In a related note - for sellers who have escaped EBAY and
are accepting PayPal in off-EBAY transactions:

According to the PP site, starting November 1, 2010, ALL
PayPal transactions on ALL venues will be covered by the
full-features of the PayPal "Buyer Protection Program."

AKA, the Seller-Scamming-Program, the scheme will now
allow for the filing of bogus/fraudulent SNAD-claims on ALL
venues. Previously, only INR-claims were covered in off-EBAY
    transactions.

The announced changes will affect transactions on the CU-BST
    and ALL other venues.

To help avoid fraudulent SNAD-claims, you may want to
institute a "know your customer" plan in BST transactions.
New and aggressive buyers should prolly be vetted before
    LARGE-dollar transactions are accepted.

Further info on the "changes" will be posted on the PP site
    soon.

"Google-checkout" still offers direct deposit of payments AND
is somewhat more difficult for THIEVES to manipulate than
PP is. GC fees are a bit lower than PP's, too.

Too bad the email isn't titled 'Where is my package', which would give us all an opportunity to do our best Beavis n' Butthead impersonation every time one of these emails popped up in the inbox.

Paypal keeps getting worse and worse. Time to go back to all money order/checks as accepted payment off ebay.

What can a seller do to protect themselves from this scam? If a buyer files a SNAD and then ships back a different item, what recourse does the seller have?

I've been a few ebay/paypal disputes as both a seller and a buyer, there isn't much intelligence working the paypal call centers.

Are we allowed to put in our listing that we do not accept paypal? I have my own credit card terminal and would rather use that than have to deal with these new paypal rules.

Least it wasnt before they paid. Also, I guess ebay is harassing them with invoices, and "please pay" emails within hours of winning...maybe that causes the Whining? (i just sounded like Jackie Mason)

I like to ask this question 10 minutes after I pay. After all, I paid it should be here. image

I've never had anyone email me that. I always print out the shipping lable within 24 hours, so they can always check the Post Office Status on the package.

The internet has done wonders for selling and buying. Now they need to invent a shipping device like the fax machine where you can just send it over.

In the early days of Ebay I always waited 10 days before I would ask where payment or product is in a professional manner of course.Checks,MO,Cash were the ways of payments back then. Now with electronic payments 5 days is my limit before sending a buyer a payment reminder unless other payment arrangments are made before hand.I always send product out within 24 hrs of payment if not sooner with online postage (Ebay or PAYPAL).In the past I sometimes had to wait 3 weeks before I recieved payment or item however lately most transactions are completed within a week of auctions end.Can not complain.
